ChatGPT ads will rewrite your creative by default from 30 October
OpenAI is turning on "creative enhancements" for all self-serve ChatGPT campaigns on 30 October 2026. Headlines, descriptions, images and even landing URLs can be adapted per conversation unless advertisers opt out.
OpenAI has emailed ChatGPT advertisers to say that from Friday, 30 October 2026, it will enable creative enhancements on new and existing self-serve campaigns, as first reported by Search Engine Roundtable.
What creative enhancements do
According to OpenAI, the feature adapts ads to the conversation and the user's interests, using the ad and landing-page content you already supplied. It can:
- write new or updated headlines and descriptions
- resize images
- optimise the destination URL
- translate ads into other languages
Variations may be prepared in advance or generated in real time, and they can run without advertiser review or approval of each version.
How to opt out
The setting is on by default. Advertisers can switch it off before 30 October, or at any time later, in Ads Manager → ad account settings. OpenAI says existing account-level and campaign-level opt-outs are kept, and campaign settings override account defaults.
Advertiser reaction
PPC practitioners were sceptical. One said they had already paused a ChatGPT ads test over poor lead quality and were relieved they had. Another argued that "less work for you" features tend to mean ads showing on queries the advertiser never wanted.
What to do before 30 October
- Decide at account level whether you want AI-written variants at all.
- If you keep them on, audit your landing pages: they are now source material for the ad copy.
- Regulated categories (finance, health, legal) should review whether unreviewed variants meet their compliance rules.
